Application of Boron Carbide - Boron Carbide Containing Welding Rods
Boron carbide powder can be included in boron carbide containing welding electrodes. During welding, the boron carbide particles are deposited in the weld pool. The hardfaced surface has an excellent wear resistance due to the high hardness of boron carbide particles.

- The MFE-D706 welding rods has been tested for many
years in China and the performance is well accepted.
- The hardness of the weld is HRC 65 - 70. No post weld
treatment is needed.
- Both AC and DC can be applied.
- Due to its high alloy content, preheat and slow cooling
may be necessary to prevent the deposit from cracking.
- The welding rods need to be dried at 200oC for one
hour before usage.
- Recommended deposit thickness varies from 1- 3 mm.
